About NawalgarhNawalgarh lies in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. It is part of the Shekhawati region and is midway between Jhunjhunu and Sikar. Nawalgarh is called as Golden City of Rajasthan. History of NawalgarhMaharaja Nawal Singh, a Songara Rajput, found the city of Nawalgarh in 1674 AD. The city was earlier surrounded by the high ‘Parkota’ or walls that consisted of four ‘Pols’ or gates. These gates were built with iron doors, facing different directions, namely the Agoona Darwaja (door), the Bawadi Darwaja (literally meaning the 'door near the well' in the north), the Mandi Darwaja (literally meaning the 'door near the market') and lastly, the Nansa Darwaja. The Sanganerias Dynasty ruled over this part of Rajasthan. The city has a vivid history which can still be reflected in the present Nawalgarh.
Tourism in NawalgarhThere are many important places to visit in Nawalgarh. Nawalgarh Fort (Bala Kila Fort)built by Maharaja Nawal Singh was founded in 1678 AD. The fort still stands as largely disfigured by the various modern accretions. Roop Niwas Palace which is just 1 km away from the Nawalgarh fort is laid out in a well-constructed manner. It is visited by tourist and the locals alike. The enchanting palace has a well-laid garden with fountains. This breath-taking historical peace of construction has now been converted into a heritage hotel. Anandi Lal Podar haveli holds vivid culture, heritage and has many fine paintings to depict and sustain them. It is the only haveli in entire Shekhawati which has been restored by its owner.
Transport in NawalgarhJust like various other places to visit in Rajasthan, Nawalgarh is also one of the cities that must not be skipped. It is the place to be to explore and be a part of the vivd culture of Rajasthan in depths.
Nawalgarh does not have a bus stand and the only nearest option to avail any buses is via Sikar. The city lies very close to Ghoomchakkar and is situated on the SH 8. However recently, Nawalgarh got its own bus depot located on the north-west side of the city and lies just along the state highway. SH8 passes right through centre of city and connects to Sikar and Jhunjhunu. One can avail buses to from that depot to travel to various major cities in the state of Rajasthan.
There are various regular trains that connect the city to other major cities of the country from Nawalgarh.Instead of Nawalgarh,one can also get a flight to Sanganeer Airport on regular basis. However, the nearest airport to the city is the Jaipur International Airportto travel throughout the country and internationally as well.
